EXPERIENCE AND THERAPEUTIC STYLE

As a relational psychotherapist, Heather offers a hospitable space to enter the stories of your past and your present without judgement; to wonder with you about how they inform us about your whole person. We pay attention to what you may already be saying: in words, actions, dreams, relationships and any other elements of your past and current experiences that you choose to bring.  Through active listening and curiosity, we work to discover a fuller and more free expression of yourself as a person in relationship to those around you.

Heather believes that the therapeutic relationship is meant to lend integrity, encouragement and compassion for exploring places of avoidance and resistance to the healing or change that you are desiring.  Heather also draws from various approaches including: attachment theory, mindfulness, interpersonal neurobiology, family systems, vocational counseling, the enneagram and narrative-based therapy.

Heather worked with Seattle Therapy Alliance (now MEND) in Queen Anne as a counseling intern; working with adult women in recovery from relational, social, racial, gender and spiritual oppression. Heather has also worked with a number of Puget Sound churches and non-profit ministries in the work of community discernment, leadership support and development and individual spiritual direction.
