EDUCATION AND LICENSING

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington State, I opened my private practice in 2020 and completed a two year-long post-graduate process to become Narrative Focused Trauma Care II Trained via The Allender Center. Additionally, to my work I bring a background of over 12 years in brain injury rehabilitation in the medical field.

In 2018 a Masters of Counseling Psychology and in 2009 I earned Bachelors of Psychology—both from Walla Walla University.

EXPERIENCE AND THERAPEUTIC STYLE

So often we settle for less—why not take a step towards a life full of more? Each of our lives is a story that intersects with those around us. The places we become stuck (or repeat unwanted patterns) are rooted in formational relationships and experiences. In a kind and conversational style, I invite you to step into the earth of those places. And, in walking barefoot through the dirt of your deepest heartache, and how you were shaped by it, you will find that you return to your truest and best self.

As an eclectic, relational therapist, most often, I draw on Narrative Focused Trauma Care and Allender Theory. As part of that, I wholeheartedly believe that I can only walk alongside my clients as far as I have gone in my own story, and so I am committed to engaging my own story. Additionally, I often draw from Attachment Theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Sadly, I am deeply aware of both the beauty and brokenness of religious communities. Raised in a legalistic faith culture, I am on my own journey of deconstructing and reconstructing what my faith looks like and am grateful to have stumbled into the vast "no matter whatness of God" (Tattoos on the Heart by Gregory Boyle).

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Outside of the office, I soak up the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and unwind through gardening, reading, and writing. International cuisine is something I relish exploring and, most of all, spending time with my four-footed friends.
